President Mr. Peevers received a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Electrical Engineering with double minors in Mathematics and Management Information systems from California State University, Chico (CSUC). He is a member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers, (IEEE), a member, Tau Beta Pi, National Engineering Honors Society. Mr. Peevers works as an electrical engineering consultant, and has several community interests. He has taught part time at California State University, Chico (CSUC). He sat on the private industry counsel for the Electrical Engineering department at CSUC, and was involved with the original sustainability committee at CSUC. Mr. Peevers has also served on the Greens Jobs Counsel which is a subcommittee of the Bay-Tech Alliance. On the Skyway House: My interest in the Skyway House stems from my interest in community based solutions to societal problems. I have watched the Skyway House evolve and mature over the years and I eagerly accepted the opportunity to be part of that evolution. The Skyway House has recently gone through some significant transformations and continues to grow while providing our community with valuable resources for the chemically dependant. It has been challenging and engaging to be part of that dynamic process, and I look forward to our future and the work we have to do to get there.
Treasurer Dave Matson is a Chico native and lifelong resident of Butte County. He received a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from California State University, Chico and has been a practicing Certified Public Accountant for over 29 years. Mr. Matson has been assisting the Skyway House with accounting and tax matters since 1997, and is in his 4th year as Treasurer of the board of directors.
Secretary Maureen Garrity was born and raised in Southern California. She possesses a BS in Psychology and an MBA in Business Administration and Human Resources from California State University in San Bernardino. Ms. Garrity started working in the accounting and payroll fields and then after getting her masters she migrated into Human Resources. She moved to Paradise 10 years ago when her sister put her in touch with a job opening in Chico. Ms. Garrity is currently the HR Director with MediaNews group for the Enterprise-Record, the Mercury Register, the Paradise Post and the Red Bluff Daily News. She was introduced to the Skyway House through a past board member, Steve Culleton. Ms. Garrity says she is excited to see all of the changes and improvements made to the Skyway House since she became a Board member in January 2009. She’s looking forward to Skyway House’s continued existence in Butte County as a much needed recovery program for our region. Ms. Garrity hopes to see some new board members join the Skyway House Board in the very near future.
A board member since September 2010, Mrs. Gonzales-Arnold possesses multiple certifications as a CSAC II with the Indian Alcoholism Commission of California, Inc., a ICADC with the International Certification & Reciprocity Consortium and a CDVC with the National Accredited Forensic Counselors. She is currently employed as the Training and Cultural Competence Specialist for Connecting Circles of Care Inc. and is contracted as a Family Counselor for the Mechoopda Indian Tribe of Chico Rancheria. Mrs. Gonzales-Arnold has 18 years of experience in Substance Abuse and Domestic and Sexual Violence recovery in Native American and other communities in Butte County. She has 15 years working experience in community social development and 8 years working experience in Intergenerational Trauma/Healing within Native American Communities. She is a mother of four adult children and grandmother of five.
Andy became a Religious Science minister in 2006, and the Spiritual Director (Pastor) of the Center for Spiritual Living, Paradise, in 2007. Prior to that he spent twenty years working in juvenile corrections as a Senior Group Counselor for Solano County, CA at Fouts Springs Youth Facility. During his career Andy facilitated life-changing and enhancing programs like “Breaking Barriers” and “Recovery Dynamics”. Additionally, he did case work and served as a shift supervisor. Spirituality has been a passion of Andy’s throughout life. In addition to this, Andy is an artist, avid baseball fan, and has been married to his best friend for almost twenty years.
Tony joined the board in 2011 because of a belief in the need for quality in substance abuse rehabilitation. He brings 37 years of experience in the television/entertainment industry and was most recently the Vice President and General Manager of KHSL and KNVN television stations. Tony actively works to develop and implement strategic planning for the organization and lends his experience and expertise to the marketing and public relations efforts of the board.
